Jim McCann, Head Golf Professional
Class A member of the PGA of America

Jim, a Class A member of the PGA of America, is the Director of Golf at Spook Rock Golf Course. Entering the golf business as an Assistant Professional in 1993, Jim has amassed a great deal of experience in all facets of golf management and instruction. In 1997 Jim became the Head Golf Professional at Rockland Lake State Park where he was responsible for the management of all golf operations including two computerized tee-time systems, directed all pro-shop merchandising, operated the extensive cart fleet, and managed all employees. Jim has also developed successful teaching programs at multiple locations learning from some of the most successful golf instructors allowing him to develop his own successful teaching methodology.

Jim is an active volunteer and member of the PGA Hope for providing him with extensive experience in golf operations and instruction at a public facility for 3 seasons. Patriot Hills GC in Stony Point, NY was Jim’s most recent employer Committee the Metropolitan PGA. "PGA H.O.P.E." is a five-week program designed to introduce golf to veterans with disabilities, in order to enhance their mental, social, physical, and emotional well-being. The PGA Foundation, regional PGA Sections, and PGA Professionals nationwide work with local VA hospitals to initiate the program.

 

Jim Financial/Banking industry where he successfully raised assets and directed sales and marketing for multiple fund managers. From 2003-2013 Jim held various executive positions in the hold a BA from Purchase College. He is a Certified US Kids instructor and PCA Certified Coach.

 

When time allows, Jim enjoys staying competitive, participating in PGA Section events and Pro-ams.  Jim lives with Liz, his wife of 27 years, and has two children.

Reese Wasson, Superintendent

Superintendent Reese Wasson heads the new maintenance team at Spook Rock, bringing with him a wealth of turf knowledge and management experience, as well a trained eye for pleasing golf course aesthetics. Reese is a firm believer that the implementation of sound agronomic practices leads to high quality, consistent playing conditions that golfers of all abilities can enjoy.
 

A native of Orange County, NY, Reese holds a B.S. in Turfgrass Management and Environmental Horticulture from the University of Rhode Island. During his 15 years of industry experience, Reese has served as the Superintendent at Winding Hills Golf Club and The Hamlet Golf & Country Club. Reese is an avid sports fan and enjoys spending his free time golfing and fishing.
